Live stream + hardware setup
Two weeks of mostly-invisible work on the gender violence installation and some initial prototyping on a new installation: receipt uncensored.
Quick note: thi.ng is now used for dithering — need to check out their other stuff.
On the software side, I’ve put up a gender violence live stream which shows a carousel of the profiles that normally get printed, so you can get a feel for the installation in your browser.
It uses a different layout and shows a countdown until the next victim. Even without the pile of printed paper, it’s pretty triggering. In fact, everything I do with the profile pictures has some emotional impact. Even my review sheet (below) — the images laid out in a large grid — does something to me.
Hardware
I’ve made some progress on installing the HSPOS kiosk printer. I used some plexiglass to mount everything. I think that’s a good design direction. I like that you can see the internals, though the cables are still a mess.
